Captain Randolph Porterfield Hart Memorial Library

A subsidiary of the 116th Infantry Regiment Foundation, Inc., a non-profit corporation.

The Randolph Porterfield Hart Memorial Library was founded as a non-profit entity by the heirs of Captain Randolph Porterfield Hart and the 116th Infantry Regiment Foundation to make research and professional development materials available to members of the 1st Brigade 29th Infantry Division (Light).  Currently located in the Thomas D. Howie Memorial Armory.

Our Mission:  To provide multi-media resources for the development of commissioned and non-commissioned officers of the Virginia Army National Guard. Also, to act as an educational and genealogical resource for residents of Augusta, Rockingham, Highland, Bath, Rockbridge, Albemarle, and Nelson counties with particular emphasis on the history of military units which have served or been raised in the local area from the colonial period to the present.  To provide multi-media support to the 116th Infantry Regiment Museum and its customers.

We are actively soliciting donations for the library.  Although money is always welcome, books (new and used), magazine subscriptions, magazine collections, and military music (recorded or sheet music) are all welcome donations.  If you have a collection of these items or even just one book, please consider us.  Your donation is tax deductible. Upon receipt, the library staff  will immediately catalog and value your donated items and send you a letter of appreciation which will also list and give the value of your donation for tax purposes.
