Dear Members, Family and Friends of the 116th Infantry Regiment

It is a sincere pleasure to invite you and your guests to attend the 40th Annual 116th Infantry Regimental Muster.  The muster will be held in the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton, Virginia, on November 10, 2007, with events starting at 1800 hours.  This year, the theme of the muster is A Tribute to the Military Family.  Since our last muster, the Brigade has organized and deployed fifteen units making up two battalions and three separate companies from across the state leaving behind thousands of family members and friends all dedicated to supporting the Commonwealth?s soldiers.  At the 40th Annual 116th Infantry Regimental Muster, we plan to celebrate our soldiers and family members, share stories and join together in support of the Regiment.

Historically a Muster is the day designated each year when all of the able-bodied are assembled on the village green for a roll-call.  Thus, in every community, it was known exactly how many men could be counted on in the event of an emergency.

With this year?s theme focusing on a Tribute to the Military Family we would encourage each of you (spouses, parents, friends, and significant others) to consider attending the muster as a representative of your Soldier this year.

Various events to choose from will be taking place in Staunton all day on November 10th.  You won?t want to miss out on this opportunity to connect with other National Guard Families from across the state!  There will be a local parade, FRG training, Spa Time, a 5k run, and entertainment.  Child care will be provided free of charge throughout the event.

As a result of generous contributions from supporting organizations, and friends of the regiment, the cost of this year?s Muster will be $15.00 per attendee or $25.00 per couple for the seated dinner hosted by the Stonewall Jackson Hotel.  Seats will be limited please secure your place at the muster by returning the RSVP information sheet and your check.

Click for additional event information, or driving directions. Point of contact email is or phone at (540) 851-4116.    I look forward to seeing you on November 10th.
